EASY VEGAN NAAN only 3 ingredients! | Mary's Test Kitchen

This vegan naan is very simple and easy to make. The inspiration was the naan from my favourite Indian restaurant in Vancouver from my pre-vegan days. It was puffy and soft, stretchy as you pulled it apart, with some charring on the outside so there were crispy bits as well. This naan is made to be the same.

PRINTABLE RECIPE FOR EASY VEGAN NAAN: http://www.marystestkitchen.com/easy-vegan-naan/

This naan recipe requires just 3 ingredients: flour, yeast and salt. Plus water, of course. Just mix the ingredients together, let the dough rise for 30 minutes, knead it a little and divide the dough up into servings. Shape the dough and then cook each piece on the stove directly on a non-stick pan. A couple minutes later, you’ll have soft, puffy naan bread ready to eat! If you prefer, you can also make this recipe in the oven.

Use this naan to scoop up curries like my cheater butter chicken (with no butter and no chicken), my vegan bean vindaloo, or use them as pizza bases, like with my homemade Stranger Wings pizza. What will you do with your homemade naan?

CHEATER BUTTER CHICKEN. VEGAN. | Mary's Test Kitchen

This recipe is 100% vegan-friendly! We're using a spice mix that is labelled for use with chicken but using it for our own devious vegan purposes. BwahuahuahaAA
I'm calling it this kind of recipe a "Cheater recipe" because we're using a prepared spice mix instead of putting together the 14 ingredients together ourselves. You can do this kind of thing with all sorts of seasoning mixes. Just read the ingredients list carefully.

When prepared as in this tutorial, this dinner happens to be oil-free and gluten-free. This isn't a special original recipe; I'm just basically veganizing the package instructions. I encourage you to explore your local spice aisles and see what you can veganize too.

The brand I am using is MDH Butter Chicken Masala. Here are the ingredients on the package: Coriander, Red Chilli, Onion Flakes, Salt, Green Cardamom, Black Pepper, Dry Ginger, Cassia, Turmeric, Cloves, Garlic Flakes, Nutmeg, Mace, Star Anise.

Buy it for $4.99 on Amazon: http://amzn.to/1PLhEi3

If you can't find a vegan-friendly spice mix, check out this link to create your own spice mix: http://www.thetiffinbox.ca/2011/05/tandoori-masala-spice-mix.html

You don't have to use the same chicken alternatives either. You can use vegan faux meats like Beyond Meat or Gardein or skip them all together and use beans, lentils and vegetables. Broccoli, squash and potatoes are particularly good in this dish.

yeah, ive already tried this recipe twice with the 4 cups and 1 1/4 cups of water and the dough was way to dry. I used the food processor and kneading way and still had this issue. Is anyone else having this issue? From first impression i already though that 4 cups of flour already seemed too much for that little water

Garnet Gigi says:

Hi Miss Mary, I love the simplicity of your Naan recipe, but I was wondering if we can use part or full of whole wheat flour instead of all-purpose white flour? I kinda think that maybe it might require a little more water or so, but I thought I'd ask before i ruin 4 cups of flour, haha. 🙂 I dont have all purpose flour right now, only wheat, almond, coconut but if it's necessary, i'll go buy some for this recipe.
