Collard greens prepared without meat yet still full of that smokey, southern flavor! Who says meatless collard greens lack soul?

Honey these collards are not messing around and this is how I prepare my greens the vegetarian way. The applewood smoke salt is doing it’s thing all up in these greens! And don’t even get me started on the flavor the fresh onions, garlic, vegetable broth and hot sauce brings!

The greens simmer slowly, soaking up all that yumminess. One bowl is never enough!!

Try them out and let me know what ya think!

Haven
Haven't tried this yet, but love the idea of smoked salt. Nice, clear instructions – like the written comments about not boiling – that's helpful and good to know. Would be good to see how to prep collards if you don't buy pre-cut (but I can hunt that up on another video). Can't wait to try this later this week….

Mixed Nutz says:

I'm going to the store right now to get some greens!

BurgundyandBlue1111 says:

I have some liquid smoke. I wonder if that is good enough for providing a smokey flavor?

Rebecca Stovall says:

@divascancook I just started to make this and realized I didnt have apple wood sea salt sooooo I used a bit of hickory liquid smoke to give that smokey flavor… I'll let everyone know how they turns out 😊

Great recipe but you forgot to add the vinegar if you like it vinegary and I sure do too! Also, I prefer to buy the whole leafy green and cut those bitter stems out. Your package had huge stems. I'm looking forward to adding the smoked salt. Thanks for sharing!

May Baby says:

I cooked these greens yesterday, for Christmas dinner, and let me tell you…"They are Delicious!!" I added 1/3 cup of sugar to get rid of the bitterness. You get "sweet and heat", but not too much!!!😋

Rita McCord says:

OMG!! You are a LIFESAVER! I’ve never heard of smoked salt before and that is the BEST THING EVER! My 13yo loved these and now I have to make more- he ate the whole pot yesterday! Thank you so much!!! You deserve TV shows, marketing… I’m not the kind of person to go all fan girl on famous chefs, until now. I hope you make it so big I can buy your cooking utensils in the store!
