Vegan sausage can be found at Giant Food Stores, Whole Foods or any well stocked market

Ingredients:

Field Roast Chipotle & Italian Sausage (8 links)
1 can of Heart of Palm (forked)
1/4 tsp kelp powder
1 tbl dulse flakes
3 stalks of celery (chopped)
1 red pepper (chopped)
1 green pepper (chopped)
1/2 cup mushroom (chopped)
1 onion (chopped)
1 tbl garlic (minced)
1/2 cup olive oil
1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup frozen okra
1 tbl Cajun seasoning
1 tbl Sazon Complete seasoning
1 tsp smoked paprika
1 tbl vegan Worcestershire (optional)
1 28 oz can diced tomatoes
5 cups veggie stock
1 bay leaf
Pinch of black pepper

If not using a pressure cooker when all ingredients are in the pot, simmer for 20-25min

It must be a New Orleans thing with the red color to the gumbo it looks good but I like mines a dark dark brown i can’t wait to try trying to go vegan slowly LOL

I’m super picky about Gumbo and Cajun food in general. This Gumbo looks very different from what I’m accustomed to… The texture/color of both the roux AND the finished product had me a bit skeptical… NGL! I’m from Louisiana, but I’m a Cajun. We cook very different from Creoles which is how most cook up in New Orleans. This comment section looks pretty solid from people who tried this out, though! I will definitely be giving this recipe a try soon.
