Thanks! Share it with your friends!

You asked for it, you got it! Yet ANOTHER video on the topic of why I cook with no onions or garlic. It’s been a few years since we really discussed this issue, and honestly, there’s a big update this time! Hopefully this video will fully explain where we are coming from so there’s no misunderstandings.

Please share this video with anyone you see asking us about onions and garlic in the comments or during live streams, ’cause — let’s be honest — people are going to keep asking this question forever. 🙁

If you happen to have an allium free diet, too, or are just curious about it, you might want to check out Keep It Carbed, Baby! with 45 high carb, low fat, whole food, plant based dishes that exclude oil, salt, onions and garlic. All but 1 recipe is gluten free, oats excepted. There are nuts in many of the desserts, and maybe a few other things, so apologies to those with nut allergies.

shauna burton says:

It's pretty easy to adjust.

bingochoice says:

I've been eating raw garlic for over 40 years, almost everyday..I'm 72, and I have the blood pressure of a 20 year athelete, my doctor cant believe it..go figure..love your channel

Debbie Tampa she her says:

I fortunately have no issues with high fodmap foods. I eat tons of onions and garlic. I'm glad y'all are making delicious recipes forthose who can't eat them. Xo

Nilsa Durand says:

I just find out that I'm sensitive to garlic 😭😭😭, eggplant, wheat, oregano and winter squash to mention some. So, they are correct! There's people out there with garlic allergies that can't eat it 😭😭😭😭

thinkin outloud says:

Just say to people you can add onion and garlic to many of the recipes and feel free to do so. You don't need to be detailed to defend yourself. You two are cool no matter what 🌝👍.

Amanda says:

I am allergic to the entire allium family — onion, garlic, leeks, shallots, chives, scallions. I get bad migraines, even just smelling it if it’s really strong.

My grandmother was also allergic to onion. Guess it’s a family thing.

DJ Ash says:

As a Buddhist I learned onions and garlic in food can make trouble in your house arguing & fights I replace it with Ginger

kwp03t says:

Thank you. Almost every vegan recipe I have to take out the onion and garlic, as I can't stand the taste of either. Gotta get my hands on your book.

Tofu Tuesday says:

I know I am late to the party, but I have an issue with garlic myself. It makes me nauseous to the point that even the smell of garlic will make me feel sick! People are horrified when they find out as if garlic is the key to life! But, here I am, all alive without it. 🙂

Time2 Eat says:

Extra bananas, no onions and garlic. Wierdos.

Louise Deleu says:

The things people get upset about nowadays 😅

Daves ArtRoom says:

Great vid guys! Very informative. Love being vegan.

Seth F says:

I thought I was the only person with this reaction! In my family we all have digestive issues. I’ve had severe digestive problems for years until I cut out a few things including onions and garlic. They’re at the top of my do not eat list. Thanks for making this video! Now i know I’m not alone.

freddiefastfinger says:

never had a problem with garlic just smell, but i always knew onions never agreed with my body thought it was just me

tenzin says:

It's good to be aware of how your body reacts to food. Eating vegan does not necessarily ensure health. I avoid biscuits, sugary stuff and vegan junk foods. Eating rice and veggies are best for me.

Miguel Ferraz Costa says:

I've the same reaction with onions and garlic, specially if they are raw, specially bloating. I don't have the same reaction if they are well well cooked or in powder form, I get the same intolerance with soy milk or soy that isn't fermented or transformed (like tofu or tempeh that I can eat loads and loads without any symptom), and yes I've a intolerance with bananas.:D It's so good that we have so much to choose in a vegan diet so we can discard what we choose and still be a Happy Healthy Vegan. 🙂
Tks for speak up for those with garlic and onions intolerance.

じゃみっと says:

Great work guys. I know this was posted over a year ago, but I just didn't notice it until now. I'd like to see sesame seeds and oil treated with much more care in cookbooks, packaged foods and restaurants, as I'm allergic to sesame.

Jmarshall7000 says:

I crave garlic and onions constantly

Missy says:

My fav part of this video is when you just started listing foods.. I am happy I have no problem with onions and garlic, but yeah you’re totally right there are plenty of options

Andrea Walker says:

Apparently we have reached a time in our society when we are no longer allowed to have personal preferences, opinions, senses of humor, or lives.
I don't judge or hate; I just adjust a recipe to my liking. And, contrary to somewhat popular opinion, it is not very hard to do. You cannot make a recipe that will fit everyone's diet, lifestyle, taste, or desires.
We should all be allowed to live our lives the way we choose. Period.
To Anji and Ryan- Keep being your authentic selves 💚
